Iris X Reading of the Week/Week beginning on 8/31/26:
Happy last day of August to the friends of Iris X Readings. Brandie Wells and the Shadow and Soul Emporium gifted me a Tarot deck that had been given to the shop. It is a IJJ Swiss Tarot that was published in Neuhausen Am Rheinfall, Switzerland. The deck derives from the Tarot de Besançon style, which is a variation of the classic Tarot of Marseilles. In 1968, an American businessman named Stuart R. Kaplan was attending the Nuremberg Toy Fair. He encountered the AGMüller booth and was fascinated by the 1JJ Swiss Tarot deck. He bought a few thousand copies to import to the United States. They sold out almost immediately, and he founded US Game systems to keep up with production demands. This particular deck is from 1970, and is one of the first earlier versions of the 1JJ Tarot deck. Thought you might all enjoy a bit of Tarot history on a Monday morning! I shuffled these VERY cool cards, and asked them the first question I have for the cards which is- Show me a reading for someone who needs an answer and will see this post. I don't know who it is for- read on and see if it's for you or someone that you know! There are only Major arcana cards in this reading- it is for something very impactful and important.
The reading begins with Le Soleil (The Sun). If this is your reading, there is something that is being illuminated and made clear. With The Sun, a light is shone on a situation and all is made clear and obvious. The Sun leaves nothing in shadow, and it feels like it is about time for the person that this reading is for. Nothing will be obscured or complicated- it will be easy to see and understand.
The next card is La Justice. This adds another layer to the clarity of The Sun. With Justice, there are natural laws that cause the scales to be self correcting. When something isn't right, the scales find their way back to a place of balance. There are times when there is something that has to be lost or cut away to bring balance. This is a card of truth, accountability and clarity. Justice is hard to hide from; in particular when the Sun illuminates everything.
La Mort/Death is next, showing the major force of change. Some force or energy is about to come to its ending. Nothing will be the same after that happens. What is meant to be is, and what is not meant to be is cut away. La Mort is impartial and knows that endings are constant. Something comes to a close and everything changes; and after that, there can be growth and new beginnings. But first- the ending.
The key to this reading is La Roue De Fortune/The Wheel of Fortune. This is the card of the powers of Fate. Things are as they are meant to be, and there is something larger at work right now. In some ways, all you can do is go along for the ride. You are one small part of a larger picture, and your actions are weaving into what we know to be 'fate'. You may feel like you don't know what to do or what is going to happen. But you are right where you need to be, doing what you should in this moment. Pay attention to the shifting of the Wheel. Things are most certainly changing.
Here's what I see. This is a Big reading. Normally in a reading, people will get the majority of Minor Arcana cards. There are 56 Minor arcana cards and only 22 major arcana cards. In this reading, there are NO Minor arcana cards. This is rare, and means that the situation that this is reading is something very big and impactful. It looks like there is something that has been unjust and unfair. It has offset the scales of balance, and it has been very hard to deal with. The Sun shines now, and what was obscured before is now clear. The unfair situation(s) have now been brought to light. Nothing is hidden anymore, and all is clear. This is going to lead to a time of great change and transition. You will feel like you are out of control, and you won't know what to do. But all you can do is to be there- the Wheel spins on its own volition. We are not in charge of the powers that are Fate. You only play a small part in a large situation here; and the outcome of that situation will have resounding impacts. At this point, all you can do is go along for the ride on the Wheel. What is changing is already in the process of changing. Your actions have caused a bigger impact than you thought they could.
