Iris X Reading of the Week/Week beginning on 8/17/26:

This reading comes with a funny story. Today, I am working with The Mermaid Tarot. Perhaps it's the Pisces in me, but I love this nautical deck. So, when I received it in the mail, I shuffled it right away and started doing readings with it.  A month later, I was at an event reading cards. The person was asking about a job opportunity, and got the Wheel of Fortune. Looks great! Wheel is spinning in their direction. And then, the second card was The Wheel of Fortune. So was the third card. Here I am, trying to talk around this. "It's fate! Really, really important fate! This never happens. No, I am serious! This must be good! Fate thrice!" So, I went with it, and.. yes, the woman got the job. I was completely and utterly stunned and confused, so I took a break after her reading and did something I had not yet done. I put the deck in order, and checked to see if all of the cards were there. It was missing some Swords cards, the Tower and the VIII of Wands. It has 2 High Priestesses, 3 Stars and 4 Wheel of Fortune cards. Which explained my issue. I got in touch with Dame Darcy, the lovely creator and she immediately fixed the issue. But I can't get rid of the extra cards, and every now and then they end up all back in the same deck. So, if you get the Wheel of fortune over and over in a reading- you will know why. Years later, I created my own Tarot deck and realized that this is actually an issue! We had decks come in without Hierophants, for example. Is it fate? Is it printing error? You decide. But that day, that woman really needed to hear that she was getting that job. And that it was really Fate. Thrice. To this day, what makes me laugh is that I didn't stop the reading to say- what is happening here? I just moved forward with it all while thinking, 'what in the actual...'  What can I say? I am a Pisces- I just adjusted and hid that I was feeling absolutely confused.

I shuffled the cards and asked for a reading for someone who will see this post. Read on, see if it's for you or someone that you know.

The reading begins with the VI of Cups. This is a card that represents Rites of Passage. You are crossing into the next stage of your life; growing up and evolving. You may be feeling a bit nostalgic for the past, but time moves forward and you are about to cross a bridge. Nothing will be the same after you do- you will be personally changed and life will go in directions you can't yet see or dream of. Consider a small ritual of some kind to mark this time that you are in; years from now when you look back at this moment you will realize that this is when it all changes.

The IX of Pentacles appears next, showing you feeling a bit more reclusive than usual. You feel like you are craving silence, and just want to be out in nature talking to the trees and animals. Things are going well in your life, and you have reached a place of success and prosperity. But at the end of the day, you feel like the Hermit. You want to just putter about peacefully completing tasks in a mellow fashion. You feel like you want to have a routine in life that is not taxing you so hard.

The Queen of Pentacles appears next, showing good prospects in the realm of work and feeling grounded and calm. This is our Queen of nature and earth who is quite comfortable with the work she is doing. This combination of cards could most certainly indicate a promotion of some kind, or an ability to evolve and increase your income. What is sure is that you are heading to a place of feeling like your feet are on the ground and you are rooted. You cross the bridge and find success.

The key to this reading is The Wheel of Fortune (and I am reasonably sure that there is only one in this deck!). This is the card of fate. The wheel is spinning and life is changing and growing. You are in a most auspicious time in your life that has the ability to change everything for you. There are larger powers at force here, and you are a part of a larger tapestry and picture that you may not even realize. All you can do with the Wheel is to spin along with it and see where it drops you. Anything can happen when you see the Wheel of Fortune.

Here's what I see. If this is your reading, there is something that is life changing going on, whether or not you know it. The Wheel has spun and you are feeling a bit dizzy and wondering what is next. The powers of Fate can have that effect right before they set you on the path that you are meant to be on. Here's how this will feel for you, as told by the Minor arcana cards of the reading. You will feel nostalgic for the past you are leaving behind, while knowing in your soul that it is time to cross the bridge. You may feel more comfortable among plants and birds than with people. You will find yourself quietly focusing on little projects and getting things done here and there as you go. You are already prosperous and successful, but we see you with your feet rooted to the earth in the future. Knowing who you are, what you are doing, and where you are going. It may even predict an increase in finances or a promotion /new job opportunity. Go with the flow of it all- it is Fate, and it appears to be spinning you in a very good direction. Keep yourself grounded and peaceful, work on little projects, accept opportunities that come your way and cross the bridge when the fates deem it to be time. In the meantime, some quiet rituals to mark the turning of the Wheel would be good for your soul.
