Hello to the friends of Iris X readings! This week's reading was done on the Visconti Sforza deck. This is one of the oldest decks that you can get in print, and it was the second deck I ever owned. For many years, I read only on the Pamela Coleman Smith/Rider Waite Tarot. In 2002, I was in a shop in downtown Brattleboro Vt, and noticed that they had the Visconti Sforza deck for sale. I have always been drawn to history and the roots of magic and divination, so it became a part of my collection. It's not a simple deck to read on- the Minor arcana has extremely sparse imagery. But it is still one of my all-time favorite Tarot decks to work with. More so because it took a lot of time and work. I shuffled the cards and asked for a reading for someone who will see this post. Read on and see if it's for you!Â
The reading begins with Strength. This is a card of power and force and how we express it in the world. If this is your reading, you feel empowered and even a bit fired up. You are resilient and have endured a lot in your life, and this has built up power and strength of character. You may be learning how to express your strength in the world. Sometimes, you go to one extreme or the other. There are times when you stay silent and then wake up and roar. Strength is about working with your own power and finding a way to balance out the wild with the sensible; and the sensible with the wild. Both are important.Â
The Knight of Water shows you moving through life as water. You are reacting to what is happening around you, and this has its pros and cons. Sometimes, it keeps you going with the flow and not fighting the current. Other times you are tugged about by the waters. You are feeling more sensitive and easily ruffled these days. It may be wise to take some time to tend to your heart.Â
The Sun comes up next with a reminder to enjoy your life. Are you getting out enough and spending time in the Sun? Remember to have fun, find humor in the world around you, and take adventures. Express who you are with power and authenticity like no one else can. Shine a light in the world and inspire the people around you.Â
The key in this reading is Temperance. Stay in the center. Temper down your energy when needed. Choose- perhaps, less battles. Focus on keeping yourself calm and in balance. Refuse to be pulled to extremes. It is important to stay calm and as unruffled as can be. There are all kinds of things trying to pull you one way or the other. Stay centered and calm.Â
Here's what I see. If this is your reading, you are working with your power and energy. You don't want to have to have to scream to be heard, and you can't stay silent. You may be going back and forth between saying too much- or not saying anything at all. You have something that you have to express in the world, and it isn't always easy. You are being pulled this way and that- and what is most important is to stay centered and authentic to yourself. Get out and enjoy life. Go on an adventure, take a swim, go for a walk in the woods- just.. get out! It is important to keep your own strength and vitality in your hands, and then to learn to control it all. Don't stay silent when you need to speak. Don't wait until you have to use all of your power and scream to be heard. As much as you can right now, calm down- stay in the center. Add some boundaries around yourself if you feel like you are affected by the world around you. Protect your heart a little bit, and don't forget to enjoy your life too.Â
