Iris X Reading of the Week/Week beginning on 3/3/25:

Writer: Stacy Salpietro-BabbStacy Salpietro-Babb

Good morning to the friends of Iris X Readings! Today, I worked with the Visconti Sforza Tarot- a 14th century Tarot deck. This was the second Tarot deck that I ever worked with. I found it in a little shop in Brattleboro in 1999 called Silver Moon. I was quite surprised to see it and got it right away. It was not an easy deck to learn to work with, but as a person that loves the old Tarot traditions, I am really happy that I did. It gave me a solid Tarot background that would end up being very important to my future with cards. I shuffled the cards and asked for a reading for someone who will see this post. I never know who it is for until I post it. Read on and see if it's for you or someone that you know. Feel free to share!

The reading begins with the IV of Pentacles. If this is your reading, you are feeling quiet right now. You are trying to gather all of the information that you can and are not quite ready to talk yet. This is a card of holding back and drawing lines and boundaries. You are purposely staying still and paying attention. This can be a wise move for a time, just as long as you remember to start moving again. There is an element of self protection to this card, and it is a matter of knowing when to stay still and protected, and when to speak up and move forward.

The Devil appears next in this reading showing a difficult force that is draining your energy and power. You may be living your day-to-day life like everything is fine, but there is a constant drain on your energy. You feel like you are tired when you wake up in the morning. You are staying off to yourself and quiet because you are exhausted constantly. There is a power that does not have your best interests at heart that is absolutely knocking you down right now.

The Knight of Swords appears next. He is actually facing the Devil with his Sword if you look at the image. This card tells you to push back against opposition. Stand up and walk right into the strong wind. If there is a storm around you, walk right into it with your Sword. Clear and focused. Things may feel like they are moving really fast in your life, and perhaps that is what you are trying to hold off. Once you take a step, it gets really chaotic all at once.

The key to this reading is the IV of Swords. You may be freezing up due to fear right now. You are afraid to take a step forward, wondering- what will happen next? This is the feeling of 'waiting for the other shoe to drop.' It is the key to know when to get up and move and when to stay still and in a self protective state. This is connected by number to the Emperor. You have to make the decisions every day that keep you safe when needed and not hiding in fear at other times when you could be growing.

Here's what I see. If this is your reading, you are exhausted. You feel chained into a negative energy that is taking all of your energy and power. It is causing you to shut down a bit. You are drawing lines and boundaries to keep yourself safe. This is a good thing to do- until it is not. It is important to move forward and into the storm when it is time. Just as it is important to know when to hold back and take a break to recover from challenge. Be clear that you are being drained regularly, and this is not in your imagination. But don't let yourself become fearful of taking a step forward. It seems that it is important for you to carve out time to yourself. But you should eventually run straight at the problem instead of running away or freezing up and not doing anything at all.
